Hobie 14 / 16 Trampoline lacing instruction. Based on new trampoline (2009) that has a grommet on the aft / outboard edge of left and right sides.

Tension trampoline as to bend sidebars inboard visibly. Tighter is good, but caution, excessive load on a single grommet can cause material failure. Using a line (belt) around the mid section of the trampoline structure pulling the sidebars inboard (pre bend) before tensioning the center lace can greatly ease the process.

Notes:

  • Tension across first two grommets at center forward first (tie off). This prevents the forward / outboard corners from pulling aft while tensioning the aft laces.
  • Pull tension aft along sidebar.
  • Lace moderately across the aft.
  • Fully tension center.
  • Finish by tensioning aft laces.

Start at rear corner castings

Lace rears from outboard towards center

Lace center starting at forward / left grommet and proceed as shown

Finish at rear / center. Tie off with half hitches. Exact pattern is not important. Simply connect the "triangle" shown to hold corners to center grommet in rear lace strip.
